Rumor: Select Intel Atom CPU Netbooks to Be Allowed 2GB RAM [CPUs]

Leaks from the Pine Trail roadmap from Intel suggest that going forward, certain Atom processors may be allowed 2 gigs of RAM, a jump from the previous 1 gigabyte max instituted by Intel as a measure to prevent cannibalization between netbooks and processors in middle tiers. According to Fudzilla, the 1.83 GHz N470 processor will be the first, and will run between $300-$350. And if the rumor holds true, there will also be a 1.66 GHz Atom processor that will cost as little as $250. [Fudzilla via Electronista]

I've worked in enough offices to recall the temptation of copy machines. "Come here, you bad girl! Use me!" they'd shout, but I'd remain firm in my sensibilities, unlike these office hussies. But let's at least learn something from them.

There are dozens and dozens of pictures of tits and arses shamelessly pressed against copy machine glass over at Vice, but I've sifted through them to pick out some prime examples of office pornography and the nine corresponding basic lessons about life.

Christ, didn't we kill this thing already? Repairwork on the Large Hadron Collider is making serious progress, with a test run of particle beams already completed. Scientists are hoping to attempt full world-ending experiments next month.

The results of that first test, a run of particle beams through the 17-mile tunnel, showed the machine in perfect working order. The scientists are hoping to have the LHC up and running as good as new in November, which after careful research I conclude is less than a week away. Sorry to drop the end of the world on you like that, but you're all going to die in November. Them's the breaks! [Pop Sci]

Samsung Omnia II Examined: Looks Okay, But Why the Resistive Touchscreen? [Samsung]

Samsung's going the HTC route with Windows Mobile on its new AMOLED-packing Omnia II by cramming its own TouchWiz interface into every nook and cranny of WinMo. Ai.rs has a thorough walkthrough of the hardware and TouchWiz for your perusal.

Warning: Elevator/porno music accompanies this video. It's not NSFW, but we could well see it accompanying material that is.

The Omnia II has a huge AMOLED touchscreen, measuring 3.7 inches, but why Samsung chose to go resistive instead of capacitive for the screen is anyone's guess. Performance in the video seems okay, but the slight lag is disappointing given the Omnia's 800MHz processor. The interface seems nice enough if you're tired of HTC's TouchFLO UI, I guess, and the phone's specs aren't too bad (5MP camera, up to 16GB storage, good video codec support). Overall it should be a fine addition to Verizon's lineup, but it's bound to get overshadowed by the upcoming Android releases. [Ai.rs via Engadget]
